An emergency medical team responded and performed life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the jail.

The Denver Police Department is investigating the incident, which is protocol for in-custody deaths, the sheriff’s department said.

The man’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
