Man dead after being pulled from North Branch of Chicago River

Authorities found a 52-year-old man dead in the North Branch of the Chicago River on Saturday morning near Lincoln Square.

Officers and firefighters responding to a marine distress call at 7:23 a.m. found him unresponsive in the water near the 5200 block of North Virginia, according to a statement from Chicago police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office didn’t have additional information. Detectives were conducting a death investigation.
