Man arrested on suspicion of murder in 2-year-old’s death in Denver

Denver police are investigating a suspected murder after a 2-year-old died Sunday in the city’s Barnum West neighborhood, according to the agency.

The Denver Police Department first posted about the child’s death in the 100 block of South Vrain Street at 7:25 p.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the area after a caller reported an unresponsive 2-year-old, police said.

The child died at the scene from unknown injuries, police said.

Nicholas Stout, 38, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death, according to the agency.

As of Monday morning, the man was being held at Denver’s Downtown Detention Center, according to inmate records.
