LSG Announce New Wanindu Hasaranga Replacement Following Massive Victory

The wins keep coming for the T20 cricket team, the Lucknow Super Giants. The team announced the signing of George Linde to replace Wanindu Hasaranga.

This announcement comes on the heels of their 182/7 to 181/4 victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Lucknow Super Giants Sign George Linde

The IPL put out a media advisory regarding the Lucknow Super Giants and their search for an injury replacement player. It appears they found what they were looking for in George Linde.

“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have signed Protea all-rounder George Linde as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, who has been ruled out of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026,” the media advisory said. “Hasaranga was signed by LSG for INR 2 crore at the auction but has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury he sustained in Sri Lanka’s opening game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.”

“This will be his maiden stint in the TATA IPL. He will join LSG at his reserve price of INR 1 crore.”

Wanindu enjoyed a great season in the IPL in 2025. In 11 matches, the bowler recorded 11 wickets, including a four-wicket haul. Additionally, he held a 9.05 Economy, along with his best figures of 4/35.

More About George Linde

George recently took part in the T20I series between South Africa and New Zealand, before the start of the IPL 2026 season. While he didn’t have the best form during that series, he still managed to deliver an all-round performance of 33 runs with a figure of 1/33.

In the most recent T20 World Cup, George delivered more solid performances. George hit a 30-run knock against Zimbabwe while bowling a 1/19 figure against UAE.

However, his best International performance came against Pakistan on November 12, 2024. George threw a 4/21 spell to go along with a 48-run knock. Looking at the data, George is a solid bet to earn LSG at least 30 runs and one or two wickets every time he plays.

That’s a solid injury replacement signing.

Lucknow Super Giants Defeat the Kolkata Knight Riders

The Lucknow Super Giants are rising up the standings with two consecutive wins in their form. Their latest victory was propelled by great knocks from Ayush Badoni and Mukul Choudhary.

The pair struck for 54 runs each, launching the team to victory.

LSG’s latest victory over KKR launched them into fifth place in the IPL standings. Prior to the Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match, RR, RCB, Delhi Capitals, and the Punjab Kings are the only teams ahead of LSG.

LSG currently has four points from their three matches. In the early going of the season, they sit two points back of first place in the IPL.
