Rick Sallinger, a longtime CBS news reporter who spent more than three decades on Denver’s airwaves, died Wednesday night.
“Rick passed away peacefully Wednesday night. We are heartbroken,” Sallinger’s family said on social media Thursday. “For 30 years he was a devoted journalist in Denver. He loved every second of it.”

The 74-year-old died from natural causes, CBS confirmed Thursday. He leaves behind his two sons — Marc and Eric Sallinger — and his wife of 30 years, Isabel.
Sallinger retired just five months ago in December, citing undisclosed health reasons that were being covered by disability insurance.
