Lions Star Seen Having a Blast at WrestleMania 42

The Detroit Lions are in the offseason, so it’s a time that players can take some time off and just enjoy themselves being average guys. Well, none of the Lions players are average, but they can at least get out and have some fun.

Now, one Detroit Lions favorite has been spotted having a blast at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. These WWE events, of course, always bring out a bevy of stars, so it’s no surprise that a Lions player would make his way to the stage.

WrestleMania 42 is taking place on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. It’s the second consecutive year that WrestleMania has taken place in Las Vegas. Why not come to LCA in Detroit, WWE?

Detroit Lions Player Among the Stars at WrestleMania 42

Among the tens of thousands of fans at the even was Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who also was at WrestleMania 41 last year. It appears he’s quite the WWE enthusiast. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was also there, and he downed a beer on camera, just for kicks.

When Gibbs was spotted in the crowd, he gave a cool peace sign to the cameras. So, he was tame compared to Kittle’s onscreen antics.

Former Pistons “Bad Boy” Dennis Rodman was also at the event, and it wasn’t just for fun. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the celebrity category, getting celebrated for his time with the New World Order in the 1990s.

Detroit Lions Could Get Running Back Help in 2026 NFL Draft

Gibbs, of course, is a running back, but the Detroit Lions could choose to add to the Lions’ depth in that position in the 2026 NFL draft. In a Saturday, April 18, feature for the Detroit Lions’ official website, Tim Twentyman names some running back options.

“Gibbs and David Montgomery made up the Sonic & Knuckles duo in Detroit the last three seasons, but Montgomery was traded to Houston this offseason as he was seeking a bigger role,” he notes in the piece.

One player Twentyman points to is Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love. However, I’d be shocked to see Love still be available by pick No. 17, so if the Lions wanted to make this happen, they would have to trade up.

In the piece, Twentyman says that Love “might be the best player in the entire draft and should have an immediate impact in both the run and pass games as a rookie. He’s an offensive weapon. Overall, it’s a deep class of running backs with a lot of versatility in terms play style and the ability to also make an impact in the passing game.”

Considering that the running back is low priority for the Lions, they probably won’t trade up for Love. Although I would love to see it. “Perhaps a Day 3 running back fits that mold. A running back with the ability to return kicks could be an interesting skillset to add to the mix,” Twentyman says.
