Lindsey Vonn is facing an uphill battle after her devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Games resulted in a horrible injury. And she shared yet another heartbreaking update on Friday, Feb. 20, in which she shared videos and photos of her heading into yet another surgery.
“Made it through surgery… it took a bit more than 6 hours to complete,” Vonn captioned the post. “As you can see, it required a lot of plates and screws to put back together but Dr Hackett did an incredible job. Thank you Dr Viola for the surgery assist as well!!
She also took a moment to speak on how she’s personally feeling, given all that she’s gone through.
“With the extent of the trauma, I’ve been struggling a bit post op and have not yet been able to be discharged from the hospital just yet… almost there. Baby steps,” she continued. “Will explain the injury and what it all means soon. ❤️🙏🏻”
Since the accident on Feb. 8, Vonn ha shad at least five surgeries, some of which she had to have in Italy before she could even travel and return to the United States.

Lindsey Vonn Is Also Dealing With A Heartbreaking Loss
Vonn truly cannot catch a break, as the skier is also dealing with a horrible loss amidst her injury. In a recent Instagram post, she revealed that her job passed away the same day as her crash.
“This has been an incredibly hard few days. Probably the hardest of my life. I still have not come to terms that he is gone,” Vonn captioned the post. “The day I crashed, so did Leo. He had been recently diagnosed with lung cancer (he survived lymphoma a year and a half ago) but now his heart was failing him. He was in pain and his body could no longer keep up with his strong mind.”
“As I layed in my hospital bed the day after my crash, we said goodbye to my big boy. I had lost so much that meant something to me in such a short amount of time. I can’t believe it. My boy has been with me since my second ACL injury, when I needed him most. He held me on the sofa as I watched the Sochi Olympics. He lifted me up when I was down. He layed by me, and cuddle me, always making me feel safe and loved. We have been through so much together in 13 years,” she added.
