LB Jack Sanborn rejoins Bears after year with Cowboys

One year after Jack Sanborn followed Matt Eberflus to the Cowboys, the linebacker returned to the Bears on a one-year deal Wednesday.

Sanborn, who turns 26 in July, went to Lake Zurich High School. The Bears signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin and started him 19 times from 2022-24.

In Dallas, Sanborn played for Eberflus, who was named their defensive coordinator after the Bears fired him in 2024, and linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi. Sanborn played just six games because of a concussion and groin injury.

Sanborn will provide depth at an injury-ravaged linebacker spot. The Bears are awaiting the return of T.J. Edwards from a leg injury and Noah Sewell from a torn Achilles’ tendon. The Bears signed Devin Bush last week to replace Tremaine Edmunds, whom they released as a cap casualty. Sanborn is expected to help on special teams, too.
