It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles struggled during the 2025 season, ultimately falling in the first round of the playoffs.
And now that their season has officially concluded, one report is shining some more light on the “problems inside the Eagles’ offense,” that, according to The Athletic’s Michael Silver, “went far beyond (offensive coordinator) Kevin Patullo.
Silver reports that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, general manager Howie Roseman, and owner Jeffrey Lurie are “reluctant to criticize Hurts,” adding that despite having won the Super Bowl last season, the quarterback is “the source of much internal frustration, including from teammates other than (A.J.) Brown.”
Could The Eagles Draft Another Quarterback?

Along with these somewhat negative reports about Hurts, Silver also added that “sources familiar with the Eagles’ organizational mindset believe they might draft a quarterback this spring.” The team is also high on Tanner McKee, a 2023 sixth-round selection, who served as the backup this season.
And it wouldn’t come as a surprise considering Philadelphia did this exact same thing with Hurts on the opposite side.
“Before Sirianni arrived in 2021, the Eagles had another perfectionist franchise quarterback who wasn’t seen as a ‘connector’ in the building: Carson Wentz, the second pick of the 2016 NFL Draft,” Silver wrote. “It was something of a shock when Roseman, the ultra-aggressive GM, used a 2020 second-round pick on Hurts, who ultimately made Wentz expendable.”
However, something would have to be done as Hurts signed a five-year, $255 million extension ahead of the 2023 season, meaning that he still has three years remaining.
The Eagles’ Search For a New Offensive Coordinator Has Begun

The Philadelphia Eagles announced earlier this week that Kevin Patullo is officially out as offensive coordinator.
“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator. I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization. I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career” Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni said in a statement shared by the team. “Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”
Sirianni also went on to add that he will be using all of the resources at his disposal to help find a new coordinator when speaking with reporters on Jan. 15.
“Of course you have so many resources to be able to use to help you make the best decision you possibly can,” Sirianni said. “You’d be foolish not to use all your resources.
“I’m obviously going to talk to [Eagles general manager] Howie [Roseman]. I’m going to get Howie’s opinion. I’m going to get Mr. Lurie’s opinion and Jalen and Saquon and [wide receiver] A.J. [Brown] and whoever it may be and let them talk to [the candidate] too.”
And with that, the search has already begun, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson interviewed with the Eagles.
