Kevin Patullo Out As Eagles Offensive Coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles are making a major coaching change.

On Tuesday, the team decided that Kevin Patullo is out as offensive coordinator after just one season. The Eagles will now be searching for their fifth offensive coordinator in five years.

“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator. I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization. I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career” Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni said in a statement shared by the team. “Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders.

NFL Insider Mike Garafolo pointed out that “the phrasing is important here,” adding that “Kevin Patullo is not fired. There’s a chance he could remain on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff, sources say.”

Patullo took heat as offensive coordinator this year, but he’s been an integral part of the team’s success in the Sirianni era, serving last season as assistant head coach. The fact he wasn’t fired and could return shows the #Eagles value him. Still some talks to be had though,” Garafolo added.

During his time at Alabama, he had three, with Lane Kiffin holding the job in 2016, followed by Brian Daboll in 2017, and Mike Locksley in 2018. Hurts used his final year of eligibility to transfer to the University of Oklahoma in 2019, where his play-caller was Lincoln Riley.

Hurts then made the transition to the NFL, being selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In his rookie season (2020), it was Doug Pederson, followed by Shane Steichen (2021–22), Brian Johnson (2023), Kellen Moore (2024), and Patullo in 2025.

As for 2026, that remains a mystery at the moment.

Specifically, the question was whether he wanted Patullo back.

“It’s too soon to think about that,” Hurts said Monday. “I put my trust in Howie. Howie, Nick and Mr. Lurie.”
