Kenneth Walker Gets Strong Message on His Seahawks Future Ahead of Super Bowl LX

The Seattle Seahawks are set to take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, 12 years after the two teams met in Super Bowl XLVIII back in 2014. Infamously, the Seahawks lost on the goal line in that game, and this is their first appearance in the Super Bowl since. But Seattle enters this game with a ton of momentum and one of the most complete rosters in recent NFL history.

Seattle is favored, thanks in large part to their defense, but their offense is both explosive and reliable as well. Fourth-year RB Kenneth Walker III is a big part of that. In a contract year, Walker rushed for 1,027 yards and five touchdowns, adding 31 receptions for 282 yards through the air. The Seahawks have a powerful backfield tandem between him and RB Zach Charbonnet, but with Charbonnet out for the Super Bowl, it’ll be up to Walker to carry the load against the Patriots.

For Walker, the Super Bowl itself isn’t the only thing looming in his future. The former second-round pick out of Michigan State is set to become a free agent when the new league year starts, and he could be playing anywhere in 2026. He hasn’t let that fact slow him down, though, with 256 total yards and four touchdowns in two playoff games so far.

“Well, of course we want Ken back,” Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald said in his press conference on Monday. “I mean, he’s a phenomenal player, he’s a great person, he’s a great teammate. Those are the people we want in our building, those are the people we want as Seahawks. I’m sure Ken feels the same way. Again, those are things we’re going to have to worry about not right now, those are decisions we’ll make in the future. But Ken knows how we feel about him, and I think we know how Ken feels about us.”

The Seahawks will likely have some competition in re-signing Walker, however. Teams in need of a reliable, explosive three-down running back will certainly check in on Walker, who might be the best back set to be available (it’s Walker or Jets RB Breece Hall). This could include the Chiefs, Vikings, Texans, Bears, Bengals, Cowboys, and others.

But if Macdonald’s right and Walker wants to stay in Seattle, the Seahawks should definitely have the inside track to bring him back — a key move towards Seattle making a run to the Super Bowl again next year.

Everything Is on the Line for the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX

The Patriots are an anomaly. Teams rarely get multiple cracks at winning a Super Bowl, a fact the Seahawks know all too well. Seattle isn’t going anywhere and should be right back at the top of the NFC next year, but they were a play or two away from falling to the Rams in the NFC Championship Game — and who knows how they would fare next year.

The Seahawks have a golden opportunity to win it all. For Macdonald, a win would be a statement. A statement that he’s arrived and here to stay.
