Kayshon Boutte Misses First Day of Voluntary Offseason Program Amid Speculation

The rumor mill has been buzzing for the New England Patriots at the wide receiver position. That has included a very positive update on A.J. Brown before speculation that fan favorite Kayshon Boutte could be on the move soon.

This happened to coincide with the first day of the voluntary offseason program for the Patriots. Boutte would not be in attendance.

Boutte shared a post to his story on Instagram showing the beach. The location being tagged is Miami, Florida. A screenshot of that post can be seen here:

It’s unclear if Boutte missing the voluntary offseason program is related to those rumors at all. After all, they only surfaced on Monday, the same day the program began. There are plenty of other reasons to have missed, and these are, ultimately, voluntary, even if attendance is generally expected.

Kayshon Boutte has had His Name Come up in Trade Talks for the New England Patriots

Despite being severely limited in his rookie season, Kayshon Boutte has had an excellent connection with quarterback Drake Maye, earning trust and putting up some excellent numbers last season. In 2025, he would catch 46 passes for 551 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Detroit Receives Positive Update on Patrick Kane’s Future With Team

It’s easy to see how Boutte could fit into the future for the Patriots’ offense. However, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that his name has “come up in trade talks.” This comes after the Patriots added Romeo Doubs this offseason and appear to be ready to make a trade for A.J. Brown.

Potentially trading Boutte could be a matter of striking while the iron is hot. If New England thinks he’s maxed out his potential, then they would be selling high if they were to move him in a trade. Then, there is a chance that with the addition of Brown, they lack a roster spot for him, or won’t want to pay for him at some point in the future.

Regardless, Boutte has proven to be valuable for New England. So, fans will likely hope that they find a way to work things out.

Notably, Brown is also not present for the Philadelphia Eagles‘ voluntary offseason program. He is not expected to be with the team until they make a formal decision about his future.

The Patriots Got Another Major A.J. Brown Trade Update

ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter shared on Monday that the Eagles “remain open to trading AJ Brown.” He would also go on to add that the Patriots are “highly interested in acquiring the star receiver.”

For the time being, discussions have stalled between the two sides while they focus on the NFL Draft. However, the expectation is that the Patriots and Eagles are going to come up with a deal sometime after June 1st.

“As one source said about the Patriots’ pursuit of Brown, they’ll ‘definitely be engaging then,’ Schefter added.

Nothing is set in stone at this point, but it certainly is trending like the Patriots will be landing Brown. Whether or not landing Brown is directly chained to what they intend on doing with Boutte remains to be seen, though.
