Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and his wife Hailee Steinfeld welcome their first baby into the world in early April, and even though the two are busy new parents, they were able to make it to a friend’s wedding shortly after the birth to watch the couple say “I do.”
It wasn’t just any random wedding, either. Allen and Steinfeld attended the wedding of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold and his fiancée Katie Hoofnagle, who had a number of guests from the NFL world attend.
Steinfeld has a newsletter called the “Beau Society,” where she shares tidbits from her personal life. Now, the actress and new mother is opening up about attending that wedding and even shares an interview with Hoofnagle in the piece.

To start off, Steinfeld said that it was thrilling attending a wedding with Allen now that they’re officially husband and wife. This marked the first wedding the two attended together as a married couple and parents.
“This was our first time attending a wedding as husband and wife (and mom and dad), and everything hit differently,” she stated of the experience. “The love in the air felt palpable and reminiscent. And I actually don’t think there’s anything more fun than being at a wedding with your husband. 10/10 recommend.”
Switching gears to the couple getting married, Darnold and Hoofnagle, Steinfeld praised several aspects of how Hoofnagle went about putting together the wedding.
“So many small details about Sam and Katie’s wedding felt like them,” she said, noting that Hoofnagle didn’t go wedding dress shopping. Instead, she found her dress at an Anthropologie in Orange County, “where she worked in college.” Also, Steinfeld added that the bride “wore her everyday jewelry, but added a few sentimental pieces, like a watch, a gift from her now-husband, and a special ‘something blue.’”
As for how the couple met, Hoofnagle explained, “We were introduced through a mutual friend at a bar in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we were both living and working at the time.” She was surprised by the proposal, stating, “Sam caught me off guard the day he actually proposed,” but knew it was going to happen at some point.

Steinfeld also gave Hoofnagle props for having her wedding on a Friday so that Saturday could be a “chill hangout day.”
“Following our Saturday brunch, Sam reserved a huge cabana by the pool with an open invite for friends to come hang out,” Hoofnagle explained. “We ended up having a group of about 50 friends who stuck around and spent the afternoon sharing stories from the night before.”
For future brides, Hoofnagle recommends hiring a wedding planner. “Having someone knowledgeable about the wedding industry and well-connected with vendors makes all the difference,” she says.
So, Allen and Steinfeld have now attended their official first wedding as a married couple and parents. Having that event be the celebration of a friend in the NFL just makes sense.
