Jets Lose Tight End to NFC Team in Free Agency

Stone Smartt’s time with the New York Jets has officially come to an end. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Smartt is signing a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2026 season.

Smartt spent this past season with the Jets after signing a one-year, $1.35 million contract with them for the 2025 campaign. In 15 games with the Jets on the year, the 6-foot-4 tight end had seven receptions and 52 receiving yards.

Smartt will now provide the Eagles with more depth at the tight end position. He has the potential to be a decent pickup for them, and it will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make in Philly from here.

In 53 career NFL games over four seasons split between the Los Angeles Chargers and Jets, Smartt has recorded one touchdown, 38 receptions, and 432 receiving yards.
