Jets Get Surprisingly Snubbed After Season From Hell

The New York Jets just endured the season from hell in 2025. There were some bright moments, and they almost exclusively came on special teams.

The Jets were snubbed from the first and second team All-Pro rosters that were released on Saturday, January 10. Brian Costello of the New York Post said he was “Surprised they got no special teamers on here.”

Social Media Reacts to Jets Missing out on Accolades

“I would’ve thought between [Nick] Folk, [Austin] McNamara or Isaiah Williams, the Jets special teams would’ve gotten some recognition…they were a constant bright spot this season and arguably the best overall in the league,” the Voice of the Jets Bob Wischusen said on X previously Twitter.

NFL analyst Will Parkinson said, “Jets with the 4th best special teams unit in the history of the league and not a single All-Pro… wild stuff. (Yes I know the season sucked) but still outrageous stuff.”

“Not only robbed of 1st team but didn’t even get second team… that’s actually a hilarious joke,” Parkinson added.

The Associated Press 2025 NFL All-Pro team is based on the voting results that were selected by “a national panel of 50 media members,” per AP Senior Writer Rob Maadi.

Several Jets were close, but no cigar.

Dennis Waszak Jr of the AP revealed the voting details: “Kicker Nick Folk got 3 first-place votes & finished 6th in voting. Punter Austin McNamara got 8 1st-place votes & finished 3rd. Kene Nwangwu got 5 1sts at KR & finished 5th. Isaiah Williams was 7th. Williams also got 1 1st for PR & tied for 4th. Also got 1 1st for ST.”

Jets Boasted an Elite Special Teams Unit in 2025

It’s unclear how much head coach Aaron Glenn got right in 2025, but one thing that isn’t debatable was the hire of Chris Banjo as his special teams coordinator.

“First-year special teams coordinator Chris Banjo led a unit that led the league in average kickoff return yards (29.9) and field goal percentage (96.6). The unit also recorded 3 returns for TDs, tied for the most in the league. In Week 3 at Tampa Bay, edge Will McDonald IV blocked a FG and returned it for a TD,” Jets editorial contributor Susanna Weir wrote in a press release.

“Kene Nwangwu, who returned a kickoff for a TD in Week 10, finished the season leading the league in average kickoff return yards (33.6). And Isaiah Williams was named team MVP after returning 2 punts for TDs,” Weir revealed.

Punter Austin McNamara finished with a 43.2 punt net yards average for the season. That is the best mark in Jets franchise history. McNamara’s 32 punts inside the 20-yard line were the second most in the NFL during the regular season, per Weir.

Placekicker Nick Folk converted 28 of his 29 field goal attempts. He finished with a 100% conversion rate on his extra point attempts, going 20-for-20.

The 2025 All-Pro ballots might not remember how special this special teams unit was for the Jets. However, the North remembers. 100 years from now, Jets fans will sing songs in their honor at a local pub, remembering perhaps the only good thing to come from the miserable 2025 season for the green and white.
