Jason Day once again finds himself in contention at the Masters, and his wife, Ellie (Harvey) Day has been here before. Back in 2017, Ellie exercised some tough love as the golfer was feeling sorry for himself at Augusta National.
Jason revealed that his wife, Ellie, was “ready to slap me in the face” because of his negativity. Ellie told Jason to “get it together” amid his pity party, giving the golfer permission to break something, if it helped.
Ellie is an American who grew up in Ohio, while Jason is originally from Australia.
“She was kind of ready to slap me in the face because I was so negative with myself,” Day noted in 2017, per Golf Digest. “And she was trying to get me … pick me up and give me a good boost. Which she did.
“Which was a good thing. And that’s obviously … it’s good to have a good wife when you have something like that happen.”

Jason heads into the final round of the Masters in striking distance of the elusive green jacket. The golfer is no stranger to success at Augusta National.
Heading into the 2026 Masters, Jason recorded five top-10 finishes, including T2 back in 2012, and is on pace to make this number six. Jason’s wife Ellie’s words back in 2017 still ring true heading into the final round of this year’s tournament.
“I told him, ‘Get it together, Day!’” Ellie told Golf Digest at the time. “I told him to find something and break it, if he wanted.
“I didn’t care as long as he did it before the kids came back.”

The couple are the proud parents of five kids: Dash, Arrow, Oz, Lucy and Winnie. After the 2025 Masters, Ellie took to Instagram to share photos from Augusta National.
“A tradition unlike any other and the sweetest day in golf all year,” Ellie said in an April 22, 2025, Instagram post. “We have been so fortunate to experience this multiple times and I do not take it for granted at all!
“I’m so thankful for the memories we’ve been able to make together on the road.”

Ellie is the president of the non-profit Brighter Days Foundation. The organization focuses on serving people in the central Ohio area.
“Founded by PGA Tour player Jason Day and his wife, Ellie, Brighter Days Foundation partners with local nonprofit organizations that work to meet basic needs, give hope, and deliver high-quality programs and services with measurable, impactful results, ensuring that every dollar raised goes back into the local community,” the Brighter Days Foundation website explains.
Jason Day’s Family Will Be Cheering on the Golfer During the Masters
Heading into the final round of the Masters, Jason is optimistic he can gain ground on the leaders. Jason noted that “anything can happen” at Augusta National.
“You just got to try and get yourself the opportunity on the back side if you can get somewhere close to the lead on the back side, anything can happen,” Jason told reporters on April 11.
“The goal is to try and cut into the lead tomorrow through nine, and if I can do that, great. Then get myself somewhere near the lead on the back side and try and give myself opportunities.”
