Jalen Hurts Reacts to Steelers’ QB Situation

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been revealed to be the Philadelphia Eagles‘ Week 11 opponent this season. In the schedule release video that the Eagles released recently, Pro Bowl quarterback Jalen Hurts had an interesting reaction to discovering it would be the Steelers as his team’s opponent in Week 11.

When Hurts was asked by a teammate if future first-ballot Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers would be the Steelers’ starting quarterback this season once again, Hurts had a hilarious reaction. He simply shrugged and replied, “Who knows?”

It’s Time for the Steelers to Sign Aaron Rodgers

It has been a long offseason in Pittsburgh with many questions surrounding the quarterback position. But now is the time for the organization to ink the four-time MVP in Rodgers to a new contract. After all, he would be their best option for 2026.

With new head coach Mike McCarthy in the fold, Rodgers should also want to return. The two were together in Green Bay for 13 seasons (2006-2018). Rodgers was the starter for 11 of them. In this same span, the Packers ended up making the playoffs in eight consecutive years, won five NFC North titles, appeared in three NFC Championship games, and took home Super Bowl XLV.

Rodgers ended up making seven Pro Bowls and won two MVPs under McCarthy’s leadership. Their run ended in 2018 after McCarthy was let go. Now, Rodgers has the chance to reunite with his mentor after nearly eight seasons apart. If this ends up being the case, the Steelers should be a team to watch yet again.

The Steelers were more than a formidable team this past season. In what ended up being former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin‘s final run with the club, Pittsburgh ended up winning 10 games and taking home the AFC North in the final week of the regular season. Part of the reason why the team was able to win the division despite finishing in the bottom half of the league in both total offense and defense was Rodgers himself.

Even though he was battling Father Time and a fractured wrist, Rodgers was able to record 25 total touchdowns, just seven interceptions, and posted a passer rating of 94.8. While he wasn’t necessarily his Super Bowl MVP self, he was extremely consistent and mighty valuable in big moments.

If he were to play for the Steelers in 2026, he would have the opportunity to play with players like Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf and all-purpose running back Jaylen Warren. He would also have the chance to play with two-time 1,000-yard receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher Rico Dowdle. Both were added during this offseason’s free agency window. With McCarthy’s refreshing approach in the Steel City, the Steelers could very well go further than just the divisional round.
