Interstate 25 has reopened after a wildfire burning near the Colorado-Wyoming border shut down northbound highway temporarily Saturday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The large, grass fire was burning west of Cheyenne and was not under control at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol on Facebook.
By noon, I-25’s northbound lanes were closed at mile marker 281 in Colorado due to the wildfire concerns in Wyoming, the Colorado State Patrol said in a Saturday statement. The highway reopened just before 1 p.m.
“It appears the fire is under control at this time,” the Wyoming Highway Patrol stated in a Saturday afternoon update. “There are strong winds in the area, which can cause the situation to rapidly change.”

A red flag warning remains in place until 6 p.m. Saturday along the northern I-25 corridor and across northern Colorado-Wyoming border because of the dry, windy conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
