Insider’s Josh Allen Ranking Ahead of 2026 Campaign Has Bills Fans Furious

The Buffalo Bills have spent the majority of the offseason making changes throughout their organization. The coaching staff is now led by Joe Brady, and the roster has once again been retooled after another disappointing playoff run. One of the lone constants, though, is superstar quarterback Josh Allen, who is set to return to action in 2026.

For years, Allen has been regarded as one of the best players at his position in the league, even with Buffalo being unable to go on a Super Bowl run. And even though he is fresh off another standout campaign in 2025, Allen has found himself coming in much lower than expected on the latest quarterback rankings list ahead of the new season.

Josh Allen Ranked Fourth-Best Quarterback in the NFL

It took Allen a while to find his footing in the NFL, but ever since being unleashed in 2020, he’s been neck-and-neck with Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson for the best quarterback in the league. Allen has four Pro Bowl selections, a pair of All-Pro Second Team honors, and the 2024 MVP Award to his name eight years into his career.

The 2025 campaign was more of the same for Allen. While he did struggle with turnovers at times, he was frequently carving opponents both in the air (319/460, 3,668 YDS, 25 TD, 10 INT) and on the ground (112 CAR, 579 YDS, 14 TD). And yet, the Bills failed to win the AFC East division, and they ended up getting eliminated in the divisional round of the playoffs by the Denver Broncos, thanks in large part to the fact that Allen struggled with turnovers in this game.

Still, Allen was only outdone by Matthew Stafford and Drake Maye at the quarterback position last year, as guys like Mahomes, Jackson, and Joe Burrow struggled with injuries. And yet, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, Allen comes in behind all three of these guys entering the new season, as he ranked the Bills’ perennial MVP candidate as the fourth-best quarterback in the league.

“The cast around him hasn’t always been stellar, and he is a unique athletic force of nature to overcome it,” La Canfora wrote for casino.guru. “The crowded QB situation in the AFC has plenty to do with him not breaking through to a Super Bowl. In his MVP season, Jackson had far superior stats against playoff teams, while Allen tore apart lesser opponents, which explains his spot here.”

Josh Allen is Ranked Way Too Low on New Quarterbacks List

At this stage of the game, ranking Allen this low is truly unheard of. Right off the bat, Burrow has struggled to stay healthy enough to even stay in the same conversation as Allen, Jackson, and Mahomes. Beyond that, Jackson has better accolades than Allen, but again, Buffalo’s superstar slinger has been able to stay on the field more consistently throughout his career.

The only quarterback who can reasonably be listed ahead of Allen right now is Mahomes, and even then, that may be up in the air, as he’s recovering from a torn ACL. This should just add more fuel to a fire that is likely already burning quite brightly for Allen and the entire Bills fanbase.
