The Maxx Crosby trade speculation keeps coming for the Las Vegas Raiders. Although the Silver and Black are focusing on officially announcing their new head coach, who will reportedly be Klint Kubiak, the next item on their agenda is Crosby’s future.
Las Vegas will need to be honest with itself and determine whether its rebuild can see it compete in Crosby’s prime or decide to trade the player and recoup a plethora of draft picks to help its rebuild.
Nonetheless, the latest team to enter the Crosby rumor mill is the New England Patriots. Moreover, their name in this speculation comes from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, who revealed during a Feb. 4 appearance on “Zolak & Bertrand” that the Raiders star would like to play for head coach Mike Vrabel.
“As for this upcoming offseason, outside just free agency, the thing that I’m going to be watching are these players that perhaps want trades,” Russini said. “That’s what I want to see. Maxx Crosby doesn’t seem too happy in Las Vegas. Is he going to ask for one officially and ask out? Is that a guy? I can tell you, I know he wants to play for Mike Vrabel. He’s told me before.”
Las Vegas Are In Win-Win Situation With Maxx Crosby
Amid all the speculation regarding Crosby, Yahoo! Sports’ Jason Fitz believes that the Raiders are in a win-win position, as they can either keep a great player as part of their rebuild or trade him to accumulate picks to advance their rebuild further.
“We know he’s a great player, and obviously, he’s great for the locker room,” Fitz told Caroline Fenton on the Feb. 3 edition of Yahoo Sports Daily. “If he wants out [and] if the Las Vegas Raiders decide that this is a long-term rebuild, I also think that’s healthy. I want Maxx to go wherever Maxx is happy. If Maxx needs to go somewhere else to win a bunch of games and win a Super Bowl, and the Raiders get a haul of picks in return, sure…
“I would just implore everybody that wants something for Maxx or for the Raiders here to understand that I think for the first time ever, it’s win-win. It’s win-win for the team. It’s win-win for Maxx. Whatever Maxx wants, I think the team will honor and respect.”
Should the Raiders Hold Onto Maxx Crosby?
Nonetheless, if it were up to Fitz, he would like to see the Raiders find a way to keep Crosby and win while the player is in his prime years.
“I want Maxx to be a Raider,” Fitz added. “I love my team even though it has been tough to watch the Raiders for the last several years. You know what’s not tough? Turning on the TV and knowing I’m going to get Maxx. Like I’m going to watch that.
“The number of times I have texted him after a game and said ‘We suck, but it’s amazing to watch you,’ and I just think that’s a gift to me. I can watch individual greatness and see it for the gift. In a perfect world, Maxx never plays for another team. Somehow the Raiders get it together and everybody wins.”
