INDYCAR Driver Louis Foster Declares His Passion for NASCAR

Louis Foster shared his strong interest in NASCAR during a recent interview, offering a clear look at how he spends time on the simulator. The 22-year-old INDYCAR driver said he mainly drives NASCAR stock cars when practicing virtually.

Foster currently competes in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, where he drives the No. 45 Honda. He was named 2025 Rookie of the Year after a strong debut season that included a pole position at Road America and several top finishes.

Before joining INDYCAR, he won the 2024 INDY NXT championship. His comments show that NASCAR continues to attract drivers from other series, even in their early careers.

Louis Foster Focuses on NASCAR During Simulator Sessions

In a discussion on Speed on Fox, Foster said NASCAR is his main choice when he uses the simulator.

“I love NASCAR. When I race on the sim, that’s all I drive. I don’t really do anything else because I just find NASCAR so much fun. Talladega in a NASCAR is great.”

His statement shows how drivers use simulators to explore other forms of racing. It also highlights the appeal of NASCAR among young drivers who compete in different series. Foster’s focus on NASCAR stock cars reflects how the discipline continues to reach beyond its core competition.

Foster is Open to a NASCAR Opportunity in the Future

Foster confirmed that he would be willing to race in NASCAR if the chance came.

“If I had the opportunity, I’d definitely give it a shot.”

He explained that he understands the challenges, especially on oval tracks.

Democrats have a chance to pounce

“On ovals, these guys would probably beat me. But on a road course, I’d like to think I could hold my own a bit more.”

Foster added that he would approach such a move carefully.

“I probably wouldn’t start on an oval because I’d be laps down.”

Cross-Series Movement Continues in Modern Motorsports

Foster pointed to recent examples of drivers moving into NASCAR from other backgrounds.

“With today’s car, we’ve seen drivers like Shane van Gisbergen come in from other disciplines and adapt. It seems to suit sports car and open-wheel drivers more now.”

His comments reflect a broader trend in motorsports. Drivers from open-wheel and sports car racing have entered NASCAR and shown they can compete. The current generation of race cars has made that transition more possible.

Foster’s sim habit isn’t just casual gaming; it underscores how younger drivers use simulators to explore disciplines beyond their primary series. At 22, the mustache-sporting racer has already built a reputation as one of INDYCAR’s most promising talents, blending raw speed with an infectious enthusiasm that fans are now seeing extend beyond the ovals and road courses of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

Whether this turns into a real NASCAR opportunity remains to be seen, but Foster’s message is clear: he’s open to it. As series continue to share talent and fans, moments like this could signal the next wave of driver crossovers.
