The Philadelphia Eagles may not be done with Dallas Goedert after all.
With free agency approaching, speculation is swirling about the future of the Eaglesâ tight end room. General manager Howie Roseman made it clear on Tuesday that the door remains open for a reunion in 2026.
Speaking ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine, Roseman revealed that discussions with Goedertâs agent are expected to begin in the coming days. The comments signal legitimate interest in bringing the veteran back.
âTremendous player and person for the Philadelphia Eagles,â Roseman said. âIâm really glad we were able to figure it out and bring him back to Philadelphia this year and for this season and tremendously productive for us. Just a huge asset for our offense to have him on our football team.â
While Roseman stopped short of guaranteeing anything, his tone suggested that Goedert remains firmly on the organizationâs radar.
Roseman Balancing Loyalty With Eagles Reality
Goedert just turned 31 and is coming off one of the most productive seasons of his career. After agreeing to a reworked one-year, $10 million deal last offseason, he responded with 60 catches for 591 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns in 15 games.
He also set the franchise record for most touchdowns by a tight end in a single season. It surpassed a mark that had stood since 1965.
Still, Roseman made it clear that emotion alone will not determine the outcome.
âAgain, we got to put the whole puzzle together,â Roseman said. âAnd so to sit here, we got a lot of other free agents too and say, âHey, weâre definitely going to get this guy backâ¦â When we get this late, obviously the market dictates a lot of that as well, but weâll certainly sit down with his agent here over the next couple of days and have a conversation.â
That measured approach reflects the Eaglesâ broader roster strategy.
Philadelphia also has Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson set to hit free agency, leaving the tight end position very thin.
Any deal with Goedert will have to make sense within the Eaglesâ overall cap situation.
Goedert Has Made His Eagles Preference Clear
There are signs that the interest could be mutual.
NFL Networkâs Mike Garafolo recently shared that Goedert would like to return if the numbers align. âI know Dallas would like to come back, all things equal,â Garafolo said. âHe took a pay cut last year to make it happen.â
Goedert has spent all eight of his NFL seasons in Philadelphia, totaling 409 receptions for 4,676 yards and 35 touchdowns.
Beyond the numbers, he has been a steady red zone presence and a trusted target for Jalen Hurts in big moments.
Nothing is finalized, and free agency can change quickly.
Many around the league have predicted this could be the offseason Dallas Goedert finally moves on. The contract restructure last year, his age, and the Eaglesâ cap situation all pointed in that direction.
But Rosemanâs comments this week changed the tone. They signal that Philadelphia is going to make an effort to keep him in the building.
