A driver in a Kia sedan hit and killed a pedestrian in Antioch early Sunday morning, police said.
Antioch Police officers who responded to a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. found the male victim, but the driver had fled, police said.
Officers gave first aid to the pedestrian, and paramedics from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District took over once they arrived, but the victim died of his injuries at the scene near 1800 Wilbur Avenue, Antioch Police said.
Police investigators collected evidence and gathered information from witnesses, police said.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
