With the tenth overall pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Giants bolstered their offensive line by selecting Francis Mauigoa. This move was done largely with QB Jaxson Dart in mind, and the two already seem to be hitting it off.
Mauigoa was one of the top OL prospects in the 2026 class, and now will be tasked with protecting Dart in his first full season under center for the Giants. Not long after hearing his name called, the Miami Hurricanes standout had the opportunity to link up with his new quarterback.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, Mauigoa has all the physical tools to be an asset to the Giants’ offensive line in 2026 and beyond. He’ll have some adjusting to do upon entering the pros, as he’s expected to shift over from tackle to guard for New York.

When a prospect gets drafted, they do their best to make a strong first impression with their new team. Mauigoa wasted little time doing so with the Giants, letting them know early on just how passionate he is when it comes to football.
Not long after being selected by New York, Mauigoa was asked if he had a message for Dart. He didn’t hold back with his response, stating that he’ll do whatever it takes to protect him on the field.
During his first official press conference with the Giants media, Mauigoa was asked more about this bold remark. When asked about Dart’s reaction, he replied that it fired up the second-year QB and got him more excited to get on the field together.
“Yeah, he was pumped about it. He was juiced about it. He just told me about it,” Mauigoa told reporters.
Seeing that these two will be spending a lot of time together moving forward, it is a good sign for the Giants that they are getting along right out of the gates.

Mauigoa is one of the latest additions to the youth movement currently underway on the Giants’ roster. At the center of their core is Dart, who the franchise believes can lead them under center moving forward.
Earlier in his introductory press conference, Mauigoa was asked about his initial interaction with Dart upon being drafted. He gave a positive first impression, expressing his excitement to play alongside him in the NFL.
“It was awesome,” said Mauigoa. “I’m really excited to get it going with him, to block my ass off for him and get him to make plays. He’s so down to earth, humble kid who loves fishing. Can’t wait to get out on the water with him someday.”
As the dust settles from the draft, Mauigoa has a few weeks to get himself ready to show the Giants that they made the right decision in drafting him. His first opportunity to be in action with his teammates will be in a little less than a month when OTAs get underway.
