Giants Linked to Former Ravens All-Pro Defensive Player via Trade

The New York Giants have loaded their coaching staff with former Baltimore Ravens. So it would only be natural if Big Blue started adding ex-Ravens to its roster as well.

That’s why Bleacher Report linked the Giants to two-time All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey in a potential offseason trade.

Humphrey, a four-time Pro Bowler, has been an elite cornerback, which the Giants have not had since they employed James Bradberry five years ago.

Plus, Humphrey, of course, knows new Giants head coach John Harbaugh extremely well, since Harbaugh and the Ravens drafted him in the first round (No. 16 overall) in 2016.

Marlon Humphrey Could Be On The Giants’ Radar via Trade

The Giants have been linked to budding fifth-year center Tyler Linderbaum, who will be a free agent and spent his first four seasons with the Ravens.

Yet, according to Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report, Humphrey could join Linderbaum up I-95 if Harbaugh decided to take a run at each.

“The Giants paid up to get John Harbaugh to lead things in New York. It shouldn’t be surprising if there are at least a few free agents brought in from Baltimore to help implement his vision and system,” Ballentine wrote. “There could be a trade target or two from Harbaugh’s old post as well. Namely, Marlon Humphrey.”

Humphrey will turn 30 in July yet is coming off a four-interception campaign where he had 13 passes defended, 68 tackles and one sack for Harbaugh and the Ravens in 2025.

Any Marlon Humphrey Trade Would likely Happen After June 1

Ballentine floated Humphrey as a potential trade candidate due to his $27.276 million cap hit in 2026, which is the fourth-highest on the Ravens. Plus, despite his superb stats, Humphrey earned just the 105th-best grade out of 114 qualifying cornerbacks, per Pro-Football Focus (49.9).

New Baltimore head coach Jesse Minter knows Humphrey well, since he was a defensive assistant for the DB’s first four NFL seasons with the Ravens.

But if the Ravens want to trade Humphrey, it will likely be after June 1, so they can save $19-plus million in cap space in a trade. Plus, Baltimore stands to be on the hook for an almost $12 million cap hit with Humphrey in 2027, even though he can become a free agent after this season due to the void year on his contract.

“The Ravens are entering a new era with Jesse Minter and have good financial reason to explore a trade,” Ballentine wrote.

The Giants have a hole at cornerback, with Cordale Flott expected to earn a huge raise in free agency this year and 2025 free-agent acquisition Paulson Adebo failing to live up to expectations a season ago.

Retaining Flott, who will only be 25 in August, may be the best option. But Humphrey could bring the Giants a unique element and veteran presence to help New York’s pass defense, which ranked 16th in the NFL in 2025.

“He would help address the Giants need at cornerback,” Ballentine wrote. “He would not only give the room experience and leadership, but his versatility would help them get their best secondary on the field.”
