Former San Jose fire captain arraigned on charges related to lewd acts with a minor

A former San Jose fire captain has been charged with three felonies related to attempting lewd acts with a 13-year-old girl.

Spencer Parker is charged with communicating with a minor to commit an offense involving the minor, sending or exhibiting harmful matter to a person under 13 years old and requesting a photograph of someone under 18 years old, according to documents from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

Parker was arrested by Folsom police on April 1 and arraigned on April 3. He is currently out on bail.

He is expected to return to court April 24 for a mandatory settlement conference, according to court records.

Parker’s attorney, Philip Cozen, declined to comment on the case when reached Friday. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office also declined to comment.

The website Transparent California shows that Parker was paid more than $119,000 as a San Jose firefighter in 2019. Officials with the San Jose Fire Department would not comment on the case, but confirmed that Parker’s employment began in 2008 and ended on April 12 this year.
