Ahead of Wednesday’s game, Robert Murray of FanSided reported the news that a former Yankees All-Star is signing with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Murray wrote: “Sources: Free-agent pitcher Nestor Cortes and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a major-league contract.”

Cortes was picked in the 36th round of the 2013 MLB Draft (by the Yankees).
He has had stints with the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers (and Yankees) over eight seasons at the MLB level.
In 2022, Cortes made the All-Star Game with the Yankees.
The 31-year-old was also with the franchise when they reached the 2024 World Series.
