While it’s still early in the season, ESPN’s David Schoenfield wrote about the players that are trade candidates for each team in the MLB.
For the Athletics, he mentioned that Luis Severino could be on the trading block.
Severino is in his second season playing for the franchise.
So far this season, he has gone 0-2 with a 6.20 ERA in five games.

Severino’s MLB Career
Severino spent the eight seasons of his career playing for the New York Yankees.
He made back-to-back All-Star Games in his third and fourth seasons.
In 2018, Severino went 19-8 with a 3.39 ERA in 32 games.

Following his productive run with the Yankees, Severino spent one year on the New York Mets (before joining the Athletics).
Over 206 career games, the 32-year-old has gone 73-57 with a 3.97 ERA.
Depending on how the Athletics want to proceed, Severino could be a good addition for a contending team.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote (on December 5, 2024): “Right-hander Luis Severino and the A’s are in agreement on a three-year, $67 million contract, sources tell ESPN. It is the largest guarantee in the history of the A’s franchise. And even with the qualifying offer attached, Severino got well over market expectations.”
