Social Media Reacts To Walker News

Here’s what people were saying about the news on social media:
Jon Heyman: “Phillies release Taijuan Walker (9.13 ERA) whose $72M, 4-year deal didn’t work. The ex-Met was in the last year of his deal.”
Scott Lauber: “The Phillies will owe Walker about $15.3 million this year, minus a prorated portion of the league minimum if another team signs him. They’re paying Nick Castellanos nearly $20 million to play in San Diego.”
Spotrac: “The #Phillies have released SP Taijuan Walker, who held a fully guaranteed $18M salary through this season. Barring an unlikely waiver claim, the 33-year-old will be eligible to sign elsewhere at a prorated league minimum $650,000 for the remainder of 2026.”
Ruben Amaro, Jr.: “Unfortunate that things did not work out with Taijuan Walker. Professional, great teammate. It was the right and just decision. Tough one.”
Walker’s MLB Career
Walker was picked in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft.
He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Seattle Mariners.
The 33-year-old then played three years for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
