Former Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Champion Signs with Mexican League Team

If you’ve been a Los Angeles Dodgers fan since the early 2010s, you should be familiar with the legend of Justin Turner. Turner joined the Dodgers in 2014 after a brief stint with the New York Mets, and flourished as a reclamation project for Los Angeles.

He went on to play nine seasons with the Dodgers, and picked up accolades along the way, like an NLCS award, two All-Star appearances, and the biggest prize of them all, a 2020 World Series title.

After a long road in MLB free agency this offseason, previously playing with the Chicago Cubs in 2025, Justin Turner has decided on the next step in his professional baseball journey.

According to AM 570’s David Vassegh, a source has confirmed that Justin Turner has signed with the Tijuana Toros of the Mexican League.

In 169 at-bats with the Cubs in 2025, Turner hit .219 with three home runs. He experienced a career-high home run mark of 27 a couple of different times with the Dodgers in 2016, 2019, and 2021. He was a great Dodger, and a staple in the lineup for nine seasons.

His next step in his professional career is a step down, no doubt about it, but the good news is that Turner should be able to have solid success. At the age of 41, it’s unclear if a return to MLB is a possibility.

Justin Turner Has Bounced Around MLB

After his nine-year stint with the Dodgers, Justin Turner played with the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, and Chicago Cubs.

Perhaps the best moment of his career came in 2017 when he hit a three-run walk-off home run in the NLCS against the Cubs.

In his 17-year MLB career, Turner has 201 career home runs, a lifetime .283 average, and a career OPS+ of 122.

It will be interesting to follow along with Turner’s new journey in Mexican League baseball and see if it’s fruitful enough to earn him another stint in the majors.
