The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy this offseason, and it’s not hard to see why. After missing the playoffs entirely last year, the Chiefs have been revamping both their roster and their coaching staff in an effort not only to find their way back to the postseason but also to reemerge as a Super Bowl favorite.
Kansas City has made a handful of key moves over the past few months, but they have also seen several of its former players latch on with new teams. While we are currently in the middle of a bit of a dead period in the NFL, the Chiefs saw former Super Bowl-winning linebacker Swayze Bozeman recently land with one of their top rivals in the AFC.
Swayze Bozeman Claimed on Waivers by Bengals
Bozeman didn’t get selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he managed to latch on with the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs. For the majority of the year, Bozeman spent time on the practice squad, but he did appear in three games, racking up three tackles during his limited time on the field. Of course, he ended his rookie season by winning a championship with K.C.
That wound up being Bozeman’s lone campaign with Kansas City, but he quickly signed with the Chicago Bears over the ensuing offseason. After getting released late in August, Bozeman found his way to the New York Giants, initially as a practice squad player. He would go on to play in six games for the Giants, but again, his time on the field was limited, as he finished the year with just six tackles.
New York recently released Bozeman, meaning he would be on the search for a new home once again. However, he didn’t even get a shot to test the free agent market, as he was claimed on waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals, which will give him a shot to earn a spot on the team once training camp rolls around.
“The Bengals today acquired LB Swayze Bozeman on waivers from the N.Y. Giants,” the team announced on its official website.

When Bozeman has been on the field, he’s primarily been used as a special teams player, and if he manages to carve out a role with the Bengals, that’s likely how he’ll initially stick with the team. Cincy has revamped its linebacker room entirely this offseason, though, so there could be a shot for him to earn some snaps on defense, too.
As for the Chiefs, they have made the majority of the moves they are going to make this offseason, and while reuniting with Bozeman would have been a nice story, the team simply does not have a need for him. There will be quite a few position battles worth keeping tabs on in Kansas City once training camp gets started, but the team will surely be curious to see if Bozeman ends up sticking with Cincinnati.
