Former Browns 3rd-Round Pick Named Trade Candidate After NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns could look to trade away from their wide receiver room following the NFL Draft.

Cleveland entered the 2026 NFL Draft with a clear hole at wide receiver, and the team was active in adding to the position. The Browns selected KC Concepcion in the first round before selecting Denzel Boston in the second round to bolster the receiver room.

Yet, after the NFL Draft, Browns analyst Zac Jackson of The Athletic believes Cedric Tillman is now a trade chip.

“Though the 2023 third-rounder has shown glimpses of strong play over the last two seasons, the Browns picked their perimeter wide receiver of the future in the second round in Denzel Boston,” Jackson wrote. “And though the Browns are committed — “stuck” might be the better term — to Jerry Jeudy for at least one more season and at least somewhat committed to developing 2025 rookie Isaiah Bond, Tillman is entering the final year of his rookie contract and now feels like a summertime trade candidate. Maybe that’s a good thing for Tillman’s career, but he’s on the roster bubble.”

Tillman was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he has struggled to make an impact. He recorded just 21 receptions for 270 yards and 2 touchdowns, and his best season came in 2024, as he recorded 29 receptions for 339 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Although Tillman has struggled to make an impact, he still could be traded for a Day 3 pick to recoup some assets for the former third-round pick.

Browns GM Likes WR Room After NFL Draft

Cleveland had a major hole in the wide receiver room, but general manager Andrew Berry addressed it at the NFL Draft.

Concepcion and Boston will join the Browns’ wide receiver room that features Jerry Jeudy and Isaiah Bond. After the Draft, Berry had high praise for the room and Jeudy.

“He’s our bell cow,” Berry said. “With receiver rooms, you can have maybe a ball-dominant player. Or you can essentially build a basketball team with different skill sets. We prefer the second approach.

“Now don’t get me wrong. I’ll take Calvin Johnson if he’s out there, but we feel like we have a nice well-rounded room with speed, [yards after catch], contested-catch ability, separation. So we’re really pleased with the youth and talent in that group.”

Cleveland’s wide receiver room now features Jeudy, Concepcion, Boston, Tillman, Bond, and Malachi Corley, among others.

Concepcion Plans to Make Impact in Cleveland

The Browns selected Concepcion in the first round, and he’s expected to make an impact.

Concepcion will be a top receiver for the Browns. After being picked, he made it clear he can do whatever is needed in the offense.

“I’m versatile, I make plays, I can play anywhere, I can run any route,” Concepcion said. “Whenever I get there, you guys are going to be getting a dog all over the field.”

Concepcion, meanwhile, also believes the Browns will have a special offense.

“We’re going to be a special offense,” Concepcion said. “Everybody has a different strength. So I just feel like if we can all put it together, we will definitely be an expolsive offense.”
