Former Broncos quarterback Steve Tensi dies at 81

Former Broncos quarterback Steve Tensi passed away last Friday.

He was 81 years old.

Born on Dec. 8, 1942, Tensi joined the Broncos after he was traded from the San Diego Chargers in 1967. He played four years in Denver, throwing for 5,153 yards, 38 touchdowns and 45 interceptions in 41 games (32 starts).

He threw a career-high 16 touchdown passes in his first season with the Broncos in 1967.

Tensi is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean; his siblings, Marilyn, David and Larry; children Barbara, Steve Jr., Holly and Jonathan; and over a dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
