Former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson has announced his retirement from the NFL.
“NFL veteran LB Logan Wilson has retired.” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said on his official X account.
Wilson also posted a long farewell retirement message on his Instagram.
“After a lot of thought and prayer, I’ve decided to officially retire from the NFL.” Wilson said in the post. ” “From being a Wyoming kid with big dreams to hearing my name called in the 3rd round of the 2020 Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals… football gave me more than I ever could have imagined.”
Logan Wilson’s Career with Bengals
In five seasons with the Bengals, Wilson started 65 games, made 541 tackles, intercepted 11 passes and was a key piece in their run to Super Bowl LVI where they lost to the Los Angeles Rams.
Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round of 2020 NFL draft to Cincy.
“That 2021 playoff run was something special — the interception in Tennessee to send us to the AFC Championship, beating Kansas City to win the AFC, and taking the field in the Super Bowl. Those moments and that locker room are something I’ll carry with me forever. And the best part of all, my daughter was born there,” Wilson wrote in his statement.”
Wilson will likely be famously remembered for his interception against the Tennessee Titans in the 2021 Divisional Round. The interception led the Cincinnati Bengals to kick the game-winning field goal to send the Bengals to the AFC Championship Game in 2021.
Wilson has recorded 330 solo tackles and 565 total tackles in his career. He has also recorded 11 interceptions in his career.
Logan Wilson is retiring at a relatively young age at 29. He will turn 30 this summer. He had four straight 100-tackle seasons from 2021-2024 for the Bengals.
“When I look back on my career, I just feel grateful,” Wilson said in his statement. “Not many Wyoming kids get the chance to live out their dream in the NFL and I never took a single snap for granted.”
Logan Wilson Last Played For the Dallas Cowboys
After five seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, the Bengals traded Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys. He was voted a captain for the Bengals in 2025 before getting traded to Dallas at last year’s trade deadline.
“The Cowboys traded a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Bengals for the linebacker. In seven games with Dallas, Wilson was credited with 28 tackles and a forced fumble, but he started just once.” An ESPN article stated.
“Despite the struggles at the position and the defense in general, the Cowboys kept Kenneth Murray Jr. as the starter over Wilson. In the Cowboys’ Christmas Day win against the Washington Commanders, he did not play a snap, which was called a coaches’ error in the days after the game.”
The Dallas Cowboys would later release Logan Wilson on Feb. 20, 2026. Wilson had a lot of people to thank in his statement.
“I also want to thank my friends and family for the support they’re given me every step of the way.” Wilson wrote. “To my wife, my daughter, my mom, my dad, and my sister–none of this would be possible without you.”
