The Philadelphia Flyers revealed the long list of injuries their players suffered following their playoff loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 in the first round before getting swept 4-0 by the Hurricanes in the second round of the NHL playoffs. Despite the disappointing end to the Flyers’ season, it was still a very successful season overall for the team. In their first year under new head coach Rich Tocchet, the team went 43-27-12 for 98 points, snapping their five-year playoff drought in the process. So, despite getting swept by Carolina, the Flyers had a solid year, and there are a ton of positives to carry into next season.
Flyers Reveal List of Injuries
After the Flyers’ season ended, the team’s general manager, Daniel Briere, spoke to the media and gave a complete update on all of the injuries that their players suffered. It was a long list, and it showed just how banged up this Flyers squad was when they tried to upset the Hurricanes.
Here is the full list of Flyers injuries, per a team announcement.

As you can see from the injury list, 10 Flyers players were suffering from significant injuries during the playoffs. He also had 26 goals and 67 points during the regular season in his first year in Philadelphia. As well, center Travis Konecny was banged up. He was the Flyers’ leading scorer during the regular season with 27 goals and 68 points.
Overall, six of the Flyers’ top-10 scorers during the regular season were listed on this injury report, showing you just what this team was up against in the playoffs.
Flyers Looking to Get Healthy Next Year
Of course, all of these players now have nearly four months to get healthy before they head to training camp in September. Since the team was knocked out early, they now have the rest of May, all of June, July, and August, and part of September before they get ready for next season. While most of these players figure to be ready to go for next year, as the Flyers look to make another playoff run, it’s certainly possible some of these guys will have their return to the team next season delayed.
After making the playoffs for the first time in six seasons, the future of the Flyers is very bright. This is a young, hungry, and talented hockey team on the rise, and as long as these players return to full health, look for them to make a deeper playoff run next season as they look to take the next step as a team.
