Five-Year New York Yankees Player Released By Texas Rangers

On Tuesday night, the Texas Rangers will open up a new series with the Pittsburgh Pirates (at home).

They are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Mariners (in Seattle).

Before Tuesday’s game, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reported that the Rangers had released Tyler Wade from their organization (h/t MLB Trade Rumors).

He did not appear in a game for the Rangers.

The 31-year-old is coming off a season where he batted .206 with nine RBI’s, 13 runs and one stolen base in 59 games for the San Diego Padres.

Jeff Wilson of DLLS Sports wrote: “Also, #Rangers have granted infielder Tyler Wade his release from his Triple A contract.”

Wade’s MLB Career

Wade was picked in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

He spent the first five years of his career playing for the New York Yankees.

In 2021, Wade batted .268 for the Yankees (in a career-high 103 games).

Following New York, Wade went on to have stints with the Los Angeles Angels, Athletics (and Padres).

He has spent part of nine seasons in the MLB.

Over 506 games, Wade is batting .216 with seven home runs, 60 RBI’s, 152 runs and 51 stolen bases.

With his experience, it will be interesting to see if another team adds him to their organization before the end of the 2026 season.

Rangers And Yankees Right Now

Right now, the Rangers are the second-place team in the American League West with an 11-11 record in 22 games.

They are 3-3 in the six games they have played at home.

Following the Pirates, the Rangers will remain at home to host the Athletics (on Friday).

In 2023, they won the World Series Championship.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are at the top of the American League East with 13-9 record in 22 games.

They will now visit the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park (with the series starting on Tuesday night).
