Exciting Rory McIlroy Announcement Made Before Truist Champioship

After winning back-to-back Green Jackets at the 2026 Masters Tournament, Rory McIlroy has kept a noticeably low profile. He skipped competing at the RBC Heritage at Harbor Town Golf Links and the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.

However, the Grand Slam winner is returning to compete at the 2026 Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club this week, and he’s already the betting favorite.

During McIlroy’s three-week hiatus, the 37-year-old spent time with his wife, Erica Stoll, and their daughter, Poppy. He accepted the Comeback of the Year honor at the Laureus World Sports Awards via a pre-recorded speech.

But just two days before the Truist Championship tees off, fans got some exciting news regarding the six-time major champion.

Rory McIlroy Joins Travis & Jason Kelce’s Podcast in His First Major Interview Since the Masters

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother, ESPN analyst Jason Kelce, announced McIlroy is this week’s special guest on their podcast, “New Heights.” Travis and Jason were both at Augusta National when McIlroy became the fourth player in history to defend his Masters title.

The new episode premieres on Wednesday, May 6. To say fans were excited to see McIlroy on “New Heights” would be an understatement. One woman commented on Instagram, “Rory is such a good interview when he gets to show his personality, can’t wait!! 🔥🔥.” Even the PGA Tour’s official account added, “Let’s gooooo.”

McIlroy expressed his desire to take a brief hiatus following his big win at the Masters.

“I just won my sixth major, and I feel like I’m in a really good spot with my game and my body,” he told reporters. “I don’t want to put a number on it, but I feel like this win is just — I don’t want to say a stop on the journey, but yeah, it’s just a part of the journey. I still have things I want to achieve, but I still want to enjoy it as well.

“I’ve waited so long to win the Masters, and all of a sudden I win two in a row. So I still want to enjoy it. I’ve got a couple of weeks off before I go back to play competitive golf, but I don’t think I’ll go through that lull of motivation or the sort of things that I was feeling last year post winning this tournament.
