As the Philadelphia 76ers reevaluate their organization following a second-round exit against the New York Knicks, a former key member of the Golden State Warriorsâ dynasty is getting linked to the Philly front office.
Former Warriors executive Bob Myers has gained a ton of mentions over the past 24 hours as a possible Daryl Morey replacement, if the 76ers choose to make the major change within their front office.
Myers has been working under the Sixersâ managing group since the fall. While Myers isnât exclusively overseeing the Sixers, he is the President of the company that manages the Sixers, the New Jersey Devils, and the Washington Commanders.
Before Myers took on that job, he was a special advisor to 76ers Managing Partner Josh Harris while he was doing broadcast work for ESPN.
When the 76ers struggled during the 2024-2025 NBA season, Daryl Moreyâs job was coming into question. There was a brief stint where it was believed that Myers could be viewed as a potential replacement candidate. He ended up with a different job.
Now that Moreyâs job security is coming into focus once again, many are wondering if Myers will jump back into a front office role just a few years after leaving the Warriors.
The Bob Myers-Philly ConnectionâDoes It Matter?

ESPNâs Ramona Shelburne recently dished some details on the Sixersâ situation.
Not only could Morey have another year of safety after the shocking 1-3 comeback in round one against the Boston Celtics, but the Bob Myers connection might not mean anything in terms of the ex-Warrior getting back into the game at the sam capacity as he did in Golden State.
âMy gut says yes,â Shelburne said, regarding a Morey return.
âA week ago we were talking about how they finally got over the hump and beat the Celtics⦠I think beating the Celtics the way they did being down 3-1. I think that showed this team has it⦠Why would a change have to happen. Iâll say this about Bob Myers; I donât think he wants that job. Heâs not trying to take over as President [of Basketball Operations], he has a good job, working for Josh Harris and all [of his teams]. I do think him being around heâs evaluating, but I donât think thatâs a replacement for you.â
Myersâ NBA resume is quite strong. He became the General Manager of the Warriors in 2012. In 2015, Myers won his first of two NBA Executive of the Year awards and put together a championship-winning roster for the first time. The Warriors won four total NBA Finals with Myers overseeing the roster.
The Sixers are expected to take the next few days to decide whether a front office shakeup has to happen or not. Since Morey took over in 2020, the Sixers still havenât made it out of the second round. While they saw a slight improvement from last season, making it to the second round after failing to make the playoffs, the 76ers were swept in round two. They entered the season with championship expectations.
