Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs could return to the start for his next NFL destination.
The All-Pro wide receiver has remained on the open market since being released by the New England Patriots not long after the team’s Super Bowl loss. While Diggs has some unresolved legal drama hanging over his head, one analyst believes he could still be a top target for an NFC North team looking to jump back into contention in 2026.
In a breakdown of the top landing spots for Diggs, Bleacher Report’s Joseph Zucker suggested the Minnesota Vikings could be a surprise destination. Diggs started his career in Minnesota before being traded to the Bills in 2020, but could go back as the Vikings are looking for help on offense.
âWould one of Diggsâ old teams consider a reunion?â Zucker wrote. âJordan Addison has yet to make a true breakthrough with the Minnesota Vikings. The teamâs depth really falls off once you get past him and Justin Jefferson as well.
âThe Vikings have one quarterback on a one-year contract (Kyler Murray) and another who may be heading into a make-or-break season (J.J. McCarthy). Bringing Diggs back to Minneapolis has some merit.â
Fellow Bleacher Report writer Alex Kay named Diggs as the No. 7 best player remaining on the open market, noting that he put to rest any questions about his season-ending injury in 2024 with a bounce-back season in New England.
“Diggs’ bounce-back showing earned him some Comeback Player of the Year votes, and more importantly for his future outlook, showed potential employers that he can still be a WR1 in the league,” Kay wrote. “The 32-year-old was a key piece for a Pats squad that made it all the way to the Super Bowl and he could have a similar impact for another team in 2026.”
Stefon Diggs Headed to Court
Kay added that Diggs’ legal situation could give some teams pause. He is accused of assaulting a former personal chef, with a potential suspension from the NFL looming over his head.
“Teams will also factor in his off-field situation,” Kay wrote. “According to NBC Boston, Diggs had a court date scheduled in early May related to an alleged incident involving his former private chef, and the league typically reviews such cases under its personal conduct policy.”
