Former Buffalo Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa has been biding his time since hitting free agency, but could soon find a new landing spot with the defending Super Bowl champions.
Bosa is still on the open market after his one-year deal with the Bills came to an end with the start of the new NFL year. Analyst Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus gave a prediction of his next landing spot, pegging the Seattle Seahawks as the most likely team to give him a new contract.
Joey Bosa Could Boost Seattle’s Defense
Locker noted that Bosa is ranked as the No. 28 available free agent, noting that the Seahawks could be antsy to make an addition after losing out on another potential addition.
“The Seahawks witnessed underrated edge defender Boye Mafe head to Cincinnati in free agency but have yet to directly replace his role. Bosa would be a slam-dunk find,” Locker wrote.
Locker added that Bosa had a productive season with the Bills, getting to opposing quarterbacks with ease and leading the NFL in forced fumbles.
“The former Pro Bowler bounced back wonderfully in his lone season with the Bills, amassing an 85.5 PFF pass-rush grade that sat eighth among qualified edge defenders,” Locker wrote. “Likewise, Bosaâs 20.1% pass-rush win rate on true pass sets placed 17th in that same group.”
The Seahawks already have a strong edge-rushing group, the leading tip of the spear for a defense that cruised to a Super Bowl win.
“Even though Bosa is less effective against the run, his terrific pass-rush acumen would allow the leagueâs deepest edge-rushing group to remain dangerous in 2026,” Locker wrote. “At age 30, Bosa seems inclined to play for a contender â and Seattleâs rotation is a perfect situation.”
