This past Saturday, Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2027, Elijah Haven.
While Haven’s commitment alone is notable, recruiting insiders believe it could have been the spark that ignites Alabama’s entire 2027 recruiting class.
A “Slow Start” That Feels Very Familiar
On the surface, Alabama’s 2027 recruiting class has started quietly. Haven becomes just the third addition since late March and is just one of 6 total commits so far.
But here’s the twist: this is exactly how Alabama likes it.
Under DeBoer, the Crimson Tide has made a habit of building momentum later in the cycle. While other programs load up early, Alabama tends to surge during official visit season, particularly from late May through the summer.
That window is rapidly approaching, and Haven’s commitment could signal a surge for the Crimson Tide.
Why Elijah Haven Changes Everything
Quarterbacks, especially elite ones, don’t just join recruiting classes. They shape them.
Haven, widely regarded as the No. 1 QB in the 2027 class, brings more than talent. He brings influence on other potential targets.
Given Haven’s pedigree, other elite offensive players will want to join him in Tuscaloosa.
The Critical Stretch Is Coming
Alabama is preparing for four straight weeks of official visits, with its biggest recruiting weekend set for May 29–31. That stretch is expected to feature a heavy concentration of top 2027 targets, and potentially multiple decisions.
Momentum in recruiting often builds quickly. One commitment leads to another. Then another.
And Alabama is positioning itself for exactly that kind of run.
Who Could Commit Next to Alabama?
Andrew Bone of BamaOnline recently released a list of players that Crimson Tide fans should be on commitment watch for.
- Darrius White (CB) – Alabama leads heading into his May OV; decision could come quickly.
- Mitchell Turner (DL) – The Tide has been on him early and still sits in the top spot.
- Antwan Jackson (EDGE) – Alabama gets the first OV shot, which could be huge.
- Nigel Newkirk (RB) – Strong Alabama buzz with “second home” vibes.
- Hayden Stepp (CB) – Major OV coming; Tide firmly in the mix.
