Eagles Under Fire After Losing out on Dream OC Candidate: Report

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to search for their next offensive coordinator. On Tuesday, the Eagles learned Brian Daboll will not be filling the role.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Daboll is set to become Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator. Daboll will be the Titans coordinator as long as he doesn’t get the head coaching job with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Prior to the report, Philadelphia fans and pundits were calling for the Eagles to hire Daboll to fill their offensive coordinator role.

On January 15, Eagles Wire’s Glenn Erby ranked Daboll as the No. 2-best candidate for the team’s OC role.

Eagles pundits and fans met news the team failed to hire Daboll as OC with criticism and disappointment.

“The Eagles should probably do some soul-searching about why Brian Daboll, who has a great preexisting relationship with Jalen Hurts, is apparently choosing the Titans OC job over the Eagles OC job,” wrote Eagles Pin Pull’s Shane Haff. “When the Eagles are a year removed from a Super Bowl, and Kellen Moore being hired away as a HC while the Titans have won 6 games in the last 2 years.”

Eagles Miss on Brian Daboll Despite OC Candidate Not Landing With Buffalo Bills

The big obstacle for the Eagles hiring Daboll appeared to be the Buffalo Bills. Daboll served as Bills offensive coordinator from 2018-21.

On January 21, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported Daboll was under consideration in Philadelphia but that the Eagles understood Daboll wanted the Bills head coaching job.

On Tuesday, the Bills promoted current offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach. Reading between the lines, that appeared to be great news for the Eagles.

However, Daboll still chose another job instead of the Philadelphia offensive coordinator role.
