Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Puts NFL on Notice with Super Bowl Comments

Entering the 2026 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles are hoping to get back to being Super Bowl contenders. Led by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, the team’s offense is going to look a little different than it has in recent years.

One of the biggest stories of the entire offseason was the Eagles’ situation with star wide receiver A.J. Brown. After weeks of rumors, the team ended up trading him to the New England Patriots.

To replace Brown, Philadelphia brought in a few different wideouts. Dontayvion Wicks was acquired in a trade with the Green Bay Packers, while the team also added Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Makai Lemon.

While the wide receiver room looks different, Barkley is back as one of the best running backs in the NFL. He’s hungry to lead the franchise back to another championship.

Now that training camp is underway, Barkley spoke out about his big goals for the 2026 season. He is solely focused on being champions once again.

Barkley revealed that after getting his first taste of being a Super Bowl champion, he wants to feel that feeling again. He made the comments during an appearance on the “Up & Adams” show.

“Once you get the opportunity to win a Super Bowl… you kinda get greedy… I just want to feel that again,” Barkley said.

Of course, the Eagles won the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs just two years ago. Last season, the team finished with an 11-6 record and an NFC East title. Unfortunately, they were eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

At the end of the day, Philadelphia has an offense capable of being top-notch. Hurts is a solid quarterback and the weapons he has to work with are dangerous.

However, the Eagles are going to go as far offensively as Barkley can take them.

During the 2025 season, Barkley ended up playing in 16 games. He carried the football 280 times for 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns. Those numbers were down from 2024, when he racked up 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries.

Barkley has shouldered a heavy workload throughout his NFL career. While Philadelphia will do its best to keep him fresh and healthy throughout the season, he will need to be a workhorse for the Eagles’ offense to reach its full potential.

All of that being said, Philadelphia is scheduled to open the 2026 season with a home matchup against the Washington Commanders on September 13.
