Eagles Immediately Praised for Stealing New $12.5 Million WR From Packers

Former All-Pro A.J. Brown remains with the Philadelphia Eagles, but the team made a different wide receiver move Friday. According to multiple NFL insiders, the Eagles acquired receiver Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers for two Day 3 picks.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news. The Eagles sent a 2026 fifth-rounder and 2027 sixth-round choice to Green Bay for Wicks.

Rapoport also reported the Eagles agreed to sign Wicks to a 1-year, $12.5 million extension.

Within an hour after the trade, the move received significant praised on social media.

“This is incredible value for the Eagles,” wrote former quarterback and league analyst Kurt Benkert.

“Wicks is one of the most open receivers vs. Man in the league.”

“I really like Wicks as a player,” wrote 94WIP.com’s Eliot Shorr-Parks.

“6-1, 24-years-old, familiar with [Sean] Mannion, impressive numbers in limited snaps.

“Great trade.”

“Makes sense bringing him in to reunite with Sean Mannion,” wrote Locked on Birds host Louie DiBiase.

“You don’t just pay a WR3 or 4 $12.5M,” wrote Eagles writer James Simone. “Also, Wicks was a stud for the Packers behind Romeo Doubs.

“He’s a real serviceable starter.”

“I like this! Wicks has some talent but felt he was always the odd man out in GB,” wrote Eagles analyst Charles Maranan. “A pretty solid dart throw to take by the Eagles.”

Before the trade, Wicks was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract during 2026. In three seasons with the Packers, he posted 108 receptions, 1,328 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

Last season, Wick registered 30 catches, 332 receiving yards and two scores in 14 contests.
