After the 2026 NFL season, Jalen Hurts’ contract with the Philadelphia Eagles will lack guarantees. Without an extension in place, it raises questions about his future with the team.
Many in the media have suggested that the Eagles should start thinking about extending Hurts as soon as this summer if they want to keep the relationship going.

Others feel that without an extension this summer, it sends a signal that the Eagles are not sold on Hurts’ long-term future as the franchise quarterback.
When asked about where the team is at with the Jalen Hurts “process,” Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman opened up about how he feels about QB1 in Philadelphia.

“I think when you’re around somebody for as long as you’ve been around, you got a pretty good feel for who the person is, who the player is, and at the same time, just like I’m talking about improving, he’s looking to improve in all aspects, and obviously he’s been thrown a lot of different offense coordinators at him, and he hasn’t blinked,” Roseman told Kay Adams on ‘Up & Adams‘.

“I think that’s what’s impressive. And we talked about what it means to be an Eagle: overcome adversity. I mean, the guy continually overcomes adversity. He constantly has doubters, constantly has to reprove himself every year, and never complains about it. You know, he just puts his head down and goes to work. I think that’s a great example of what we’re looking for in everyone in this building.”
Roseman also mentioned that the Eagles as a whole are still a “work in progress.” His response doesn’t exactly scream “we’re working on something long-term,” but it makes it clear that Hurts is still in a very good spot with the team heading into year seven.
At this stage, it seems the Eagles are going to see how the year begins and plays out. With a new offensive coordinator in place, there are high expectations for the Eagles to bounce back after struggling in 2025.
