If there’s one thing that “Dancing with the Stars” Pro Rylee Arnold knows well, it’s that it takes two to tango. And audiences know that Arnold has taught her FBS tight end boyfriend, Walker Lyons, a few dance steps along the way throughout their nearly two-year relationship. Now the pair will need to learn how to navigate a new type of lifestyle – akin to learning a new type of dance – as Walker Lyons has shared a life update that impacts not only his life, but Rylee’s life, too.
Since 2023, Walker Lyons has been an offensive player for the University of Southern California Trojans. Over three seasons, he’s spent his NCAA career thus far playing alongside USC teammates like potential Travis Kelce replacement Lake McRee. But now a major announcement has been revealed that is taking Lyons away from the Trojans and in a new direction with his pursuits – both his FBS journey and his next chapter in life.
Walker Lyons Has Announced That He Has Transferred Schools & Joined a New D1 Football Program
Walker Lyons has left Lost Angeles, including close proximity to the ‘DWTS’ studio where Rylee trains and films, for a move to Provo, Utah nearly 700 miles. After three seasons as a tight end for the USC Trojans, he has announced his decision to continue his collegiate athletic journey with a new university program. In a geographical role reversal, Lyons has now moved to Rylee Arnold’s home state of Utah while she resides in his home state of California. The tight end announced recently that he has decided to transfer to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah and that he has joined the BYU Cougars football team.
Having alerted the world to the news of his transfer from USC to BYU by sharing a post uploaded on his behalf by BYU’s football team on Instagram, Lyons expressed his excitement for the transfer and new opportunities ahead of him on the football field and in Provo. The BYU Cougars football program seems equally as excited about Lyons joining them as the post introducing him as the newest tight end on the Cougars is captioned with a friendly message that says, “Welcome to the Family Walker” followed by the ‘shaka’ hand gesture – which is symbolic of friendship and working together as a team.
As for Rylee Arnold, all indicators are that she’s gearing up for the next season of “Dancing with the Stars” that will commence pre-taping rehearsals in the mid-to-late summer, and then Season 35 will premiere in September 2026. But that hasn’t stopped a litany of rumors from growing, especially now that Walker has transferred so far away from Los Angeles.
Rumors About Rylee Arnold’s Time As a Pro-Dancer On ‘DWTS’ Coming to an End Have Been Swirling
As Walker says goodbye to California, Rylee is holding on to the SoCal Sunshine, even as rumors have been swirling that she may not be asked back to be on the next season of “Dancing with the Stars.” However, she says that the rumors are just ‘noise’ that she’s learning to tune out so that she can focus on the things that matter the most to her – including her family and, of course, Walker Lyons.
Speaking in an interview with ‘DWTS’ host Julianne Hough on The Morning After Show podcast, Rylee explained that, “We don’t know if we’re gonna be on the show until the summertime. I would absolutely love to do another season — if not a bunch of more seasons — if they want me there. I think hearing that noise from [different] sources that probably aren’t even true is super, super hard.”
