SAN FRANCISCO — A driver on the Bay Bridge suffered a gunshot wound Saturday night after gunfire on the bridge, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers were notified about 8:20 p.m. that a shooting happened on eastbound Interstate 80 near Yerba Buena Island on the San Francisco side of the bridge, according to a statement from the CHP. The driver’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he went by ambulance to a hospital.
The CHP said a vehicle pulled up alongside the driver and shot at it more than one time. One bullet hit the driver, according to the agency.
The driver stopped in the far right lane of the bridge and called 911 after the shooting.
The CHP closed four lanes of eastbound I-80 for approximately two hours to investigate the scene and process it for evidence. They did not publicly identify the driver or have any information on the vehicle from which the shots came.
Detectives are seeking help, and the CHP asked anyone in the area of the bridge where and when the shooting happened on Saturday night to contact the agency’s tip-line at 707-917-4491.
