Driver killed in I-94 crash involving semi-truck on Far South Side

A driver died in a crash involving a semi-truck on I-94 early Sunday on the Far South Side.

The crash happened around 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes near the 130th Street exit on I-94, according to the Illinois State Police. The driver, who was in a Nissan SUV, was taken to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The semi-truck driver was also injured and taken to a local hospital, according to state police.


All southbound lanes were closed until 5 a.m. Sunday. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
