Dodgers Get New Update About Tarik Skubal Trade Possibility

The Los Angeles Dodgers are once again exiting the MLB offseason as one of the biggest winners in baseball.

After winning their second straight World Series last season, the Dodgers have their eyes set on being the first team to three-peat as champions since the New York Yankees did it back in 1998, 1999, and 2000. What they did this offseason will help towards that goal.

As has been the case quite often in recent years, Los Angeles landed the best free agent on the market. The Dodgers were able to sign superstar outfielder Kyle Tucker to a massive four-year, $240 million contract in free agency.

That wasn’t the only move Los Angeles made this offseason. Edwin Diaz, the former closer for the New York Mets, was also signed to a three-year, $69 million deal. Those two moves will help the Dodgers in a big way as they attempt to three-peat.

With that being said, there have been rumors surrounding the team being a potential player to acquire Detroit Tigers superstar pitcher Tarik Skubal in a blockbuster trade.

Los Angeles Dodgers Get Another Tarik Skubal Update

While the idea of the Dodgers adding Skubal is nightmare fuel for opposing teams, it doesn’t sound like they’re going to have a chance to make that dream become a reality.

According to longtime MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, the Tigers have no interest in trading Skubal.

“After talking with a person who was briefed on their intentions, on their plans, that person said, ‘We are not trading Tarik Skubal. Our intention is to win.’”

Detroit is going all-in on trying to win a championship as well. Trading Skubal would be a huge setback for the Tigers in that quest. Things could change for them, but for now it doesn’t sound like the ace pitcher is on the trade market.

Assuming that is the case, Los Angeles will need to look elsewhere if it wants to add another impact player before the offseason comes to an end.

Tarik Skubal Will Still Be a Name to Watch on the Trade Market

Even though Detroit seems set on keeping Skubal to start the 2026 MLB season, that could change as the year continues on.

Should the Tigers struggle to begin the season, trading Skubal would become a much more possible scenario ahead of the MLB trade deadline. There is also a chance that the two sides will end up not seeing eye to eye about the future and could opt to part ways.

If the Dodgers are currently interested in Skubal, they will likely remain interested moving into the future.

Last season with Detroit, the 29-year-old star made 31 starts. He compiled a 13-6 record to go along with a 2.21 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, a 7.3 K/BB ratio, and 195.1 innings pitched. It is abundantly clear why Los Angeles and many other teams would love to acquire Skubal.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Skubal’s future with the Tigers. The Dodgers don’t seem to have a chance to acquire him now, but that door could open again down the road.
