On Saturday, the Detroit Tigers will continue their series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

They are coming off a 1-0 loss (on Friday).

The Tigers currently remain without starting pitcher Justin Verlander (who is on the IL).

Tigers PR wrote (on April 4): “The Tigers today placed RHP Justin Verlander on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 1) with left hip inflammation. RHP Keider Montero has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo.”

Ahead of the series, manager A.J. Hinch revealed that Verlander did not make the trip to Boston.

Evan Petzold of Detroit Free Press wrote (on Friday): “Justin Verlander (left hip injury) was planning to travel with the #Tigers to Boston, but he ended up not making the trip.”

Verlander signed with the Tigers over the offseason.

He has appeared in one game, going 3.2 innings (and allowing five earned runs).

Verlander spent the first 13 years of his career playing for the Tigers.

He made six All-Star Games (and won an MVP and Cy Young Award) in that span.

The future Hall of Famer then had stints with the Houston Astros, San Francisco Giants and New York Mets.

During his time with the Astors, Verlander won two more Cy Young Awards (and two World Series Championships).

At 43, fans are excited that he is likely finishing his career with the Tigers.

The Tigers come into Saturday as the third-place team in the American League Central with a 10-10 record in 20 games.
